The composition and properties of jojoba oil
Already the Apache knew the properties of jojoba and used it to treat tumours, digestive tract and skin ailments. They called the jojoba tree "mokosch" and that is why sometimes jojoba oil is also called "jojoba oil".
Jojoba oil is primarily a rich source of phytosterols and valuable microelements, and is also rich in vitamin E. It also has unsaturated fatty acids. This composition of ingredients is very similar to sebum produced by human skin and that is why it is used for its care.
What properties do the individual ingredients have?
Squalene is a lipid that is found in our skin, but also in the shark's liver (liver). This is why jojoba oil has increased in popularity after shark hunting has been reduced. Squalene has mainly anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, blocks free radicals and has antioxidant properties. It protects skin against water loss.
Phytosterols - the range of their properties is very wide. First of all, they stimulate cells to produce collagen, which delays the skin aging process while preventing the decomposition of elastin. Phytosterols have antibacterial and antifungal properties, soothe various types of skin irritation, accelerate the regeneration of the epidermis.
Unsaturated and saturated fatty acids and alcohols - fight free radicals, delay the skin ageing process, provide nutrients.
Vitamins - These are mainly vitamin E, A, F and B vitamins. Vitamin A accelerates exfoliation of dead epidermal cells, regulates the reconstruction of new cells, stimulates collagen production, reduces wrinkles and skin discolouration. It regenerates hair weakness. Vitamin E reduces the effects of free radicals and prevents the appearance of wrinkles. Vitamin F regenerates the epidermis, accelerates wound healing and reduces acne changes.
